MINIMUM "BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE" REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 2016 / 17 SCHOOL YEAR (FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL)

Parents will be informed if the device does not meet the requirements and asked to provide their child with one that does.

Machine Type Laptop iPad, iPods and other tablets have many uses in the class as well but laptops are required 
Platform PC, Mac, or Chromebook This gironmentives students the ability to choose their most comfortable environment
Anti-Virus Software PC - with automatic updating  This is needed to protect the data on the laptop as well as the school network and other devices on the network
Wifi Supporting 802.11 b/g/n (this is standard in all systems) The ability to connect to the school's wireless internet is vital for access to their cloud files, applications, websites, and online research.
Operating System Current, English version of any operating system (iOS, Windows, Chrome OS) This ensures the lastest software and programs are compatible with the laptop and can be understood by student and teacher.
Battery Life Minimum 3 hours The device will need to come fully charged to school and be able to last several hours without plugging in. A 2nd battery can be used. Students will have some ability to charge during the day.

4GB - PC or Mac

2GB - Chromebook

 The device will need to store and process data quickly & effectively.
Screen size  11 inches or more The screen should be large enough to avoid eye train when used throughout a school day
Device Weight  Weight  The laptop should be light enough for your student to carry each day
Recommended Hardware features Camera & Microphone This is to ensure students can participate in media-based activities 
Casing A sturdy cover surrounding the laptop to protect it from scratches if it is dropped.
Durability Consider the device's overall durability - are the keys sturdy? It should be axpected to last at least 3 years.
